More like a passing suggestion

Um, yeah, now that I think about it, sending an alert an hour and a half after the actual shooting isn't really an alert.

  1. I'm going to (respectfully, of course) beg to differ here. I think that 90 minutes is pretty darn good given that:
    1. It takes time to figure out what exactly has happened and to get to the scene.
    2. First priority is the victims and trying to figure out where the bad guy is.
    3. Resources were already stretched thin due to Twilight.
    4. After somebody remembers that they need is issue a UGA Alert it means that someone has to actually write the thing since it's not like they have an on-staff writer to handle such things.
    5. Whoever writes the alert is probably juggling other responsibilities in an absolutely chaotic environment with the phone most likely ringing off of the hook.
    6. Whatever is released needs to rely maximum information within the character constraints of text messages.
    7. They are faced with the unanticipated and unprecedented task of making sure that the bad guy doesn't receive the message. Given that there are multiple ways to receive UGA Alerts, this is not as simple as it may seem.

Given all of this, I think getting a message out within 90 minutes isn't all that bad.
