Couple of things

- Oh ... Mother of Mary. Thanks Bill Berryman for pursuing this case no one wanted and then, somehow, getting three folks on the state's Court of Appeals to open the door to taxing every bake sale and car wash out there. This is so incredibly disappointing, that I'm not even sure where to begin.

- Speaking of non-profit issues, isn't the point of non-profits that sometimes folks help these entities out for values below the 'asking price'. I mean, shouldn't the group's mission actually be a reason why the land should be sold a little below its market value?

- I think we're reading too much into this. For starters, I've got no problem with a commissioner serving on an advisory panel that selects and/or recommends artists for the public art portion of the Clayton Street parking deck. Secondly, I think Athens-Clarke County District Six Commissioner Ed Robinson was merely offering examples and not attempting to curry favor for two local artists. I think it was rather off-the-cuff and, quite frankly, harmless. Furthermore, the recommendation from local staff might just result in no commissioners serving on this hypothetical panel for the reasons expressed in this editorial.

- Blake talks about the rather sharp turns to the right in state politics as of late.
