Too good to be true

Ah, yes ... Jeb's testing the waters for 2012.

I find it hysterical that Jeb Bush is part of the Republican Party's attempt to 're-brand itself' but whatever ... by all means, please put another Bush on the ticket.

This part made me laugh out loud ...

He downplayed the president's approval ratings, which remain above average. "First of all, who cares?" he said.

"His popularity is no greater – in fact it's less – than what my brother's was during the beginning of his tenure, in a time of unbelievable friction, if you think about it, because of the 2000 election. His approval ratings were higher than Barack Obama's during his first one hundred days."

According to the most recent CNN/Opinion Research Corporation polls, Obama's approval ratings have averaged several points higher than President George W. Bush's were at the same point in their presidencies.

So not only is he patently wrong, it also undermines his entire argument. Given that, contrary to the latest round of Republican talking points, the nation fully knew that President Obama wanted to pass health reform, pass cap-and-trade legislation, use the power of the federal government to combat the economic crisis and so on and so on, Jeb's thesis makes no sense.

If the nation is unhappy that it's been 'duped' as he suggests, shouldn't the polls reflect this frustration rather than show approval ratings consistently above 60 percent? Shouldn't they not show support for a public health option at 70 percent or high?
