Couple of things

- John English is just wrong, for a variety of reasons. For starters, the deck being built is being democratically as it was approved by the voters during the last SPLOST referendum. In addition, there have been countless meetings over the past two to three years regarding the deck's concept, and each of those meetings offer the opportunity for public input (it's just that folks haven't been concerned with this thing until the past week or so). Lastly, it's purely personal projection to think the developer has 'deceived' the community by misrepresenting the scale of the building since the height of the building falls below existing local ordinances.

- Likewise, Bob Bowen, please read Paul Krugman to find out the flaws in your argument.

- Well, Keith Johnson will be happy. But, seriously, this is a good thing, and who knows ... it might be time to do some big picture things like analyze the role of the mayor to the commission, the number of commissioners serving at the same time, who exactly in staff does and does not report to the commission, etc. Here's hoping this group does some of those things.

- A fascinating set of charts from Ezra Klein that suggest the silver bullet to lowering health care costs is to get pricing under control.
