Couple of things

- Athens-Clarke County has issued a stop work order against Delta Delta Delta for damaging existing trees that were supposed to be protected, which is just the latest frustration involving the Greek community and the Milledge Avenue corridor residents.

- I'm trying to understand a few things in this story, namely how $27,000 was pulled out of a hat. Given that, based on the numbers cited by the public works department, the cost of water service for roughly 15 years would be a little more than $2,500 - and that the cost of drilling a well is, at most, $10,000 - how are we accounting for the additional $15,000? Arguably, the Oconee County Commission did the right thing is just restricting the payments to the past four years and focusing them on the cost of service, not the cost of installation (since 'Bubber' Wilkes used the well for his own property too), but where in the world did $27,000 come from?

- Lee Becker offers a preview of tomorrow's meeting of the Oconee County Commission where the vote to reorganize the structure of the government will take place, and he's kind enough to link to my interviews with Oconee County Commission Chairman Melvin Davis.

- The 'secret meeting' debate continues as I offer some dissenting thought to Sunday's editorial in the Athens Banner-Herald.

- I trust everyone had an enjoyable Fourth of July weekend. The Wife, The Kid and I enjoyed a party at Courtney Davis's house on Friday evening, visited with the family of our friends Tim and Carrie on Saturday and then, on Sunday, it was a non-stop Daddy/Daughter Day as we went went to church (so I could teach the first of a six-week Sunday School series), Sam's Club, the grocery store and rocked out to random dance music in the car.
