It seems that Rep. Michelle Bachmann, in jockeying with our own Rep. Paul Broun in the contest for who can say the craziest thing, might have finally lost some of her support.
Bachmann has been going around telling every conservative media outlet she can find that she has no intention to fill out her census form, risking a $5,000 fine in the process. Her rationale for doing so is kind of murky given that, well, there is no articulated rationale for doing so.
Georgia's Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, along with Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC) and Rep. John Mica (R-FL), have put out a statement encouraging all elected officials to participate in the census ...
Every elected representative in this country should feel a responsibility to encourage full participation in the census. To do otherwise is to advocate for a smaller share of federal funding for our constituents. Boycotting the constitutionally-mandated census is illogical, illegal and not in the best interest of our country.
Furthermore, a boycott opens the door for partisans to statistically adjust census results.
Nice they still managed to get a swipe in at the administration, isn't it?
