The Classic Center parking deck has been closed since yesterday after a visual inspection determined the facility had some structural flaws.
A structural engineer conducted an initial visual inspection of the facility, and those findings resulted in a recommendation for further, more in-depth investigation of the deck. As a result, the Foundry Street deck is closed for at least a week pending the completion of the investigation.
In the meantime, parking is being redirected to various onsite lots.
The inspection was set up after concerns were raised following the high-profile collapses in Atlanta. That builder was Hardin Construction, who recently had its contracts with the University of Georgia canceled.
