Couple of things

- This is, ultimately, a very good move for the area's Nationwide Tour event. Having the University of Georgia align itself with this event automatically gives it credibility and a long list of sponsors to draw from. Furthermore, I would expect to see corporate sponsorships increase since businesses will not only get the opportunity to be aligned with the PGA (who oversees the Nationwide Tour), but also with UGA. It's win-win in terms of attracting donors and supporters, while the attendence is sure to increase thanks to the available list of Georgia athletic supporters. The opportunities to effectively partner these two entities are limitless, and it's just a smart business move all the way around.

- Seems to me that John Stossel gets paid for producing stupidity on a daily basis.

- While Tommy Hansen is the more logical choice to insert into the Braves' rotation, given his tremendous potential to emerge as a dominant pitcher, this is garbage. I can recognize the logic that Tom Glavine simply didn't have it anymore, but Frank Wren - as he has done with most of his personnel decisions - absolutely screwed this one up.

- In an absolutely rare and almost unprecedented occurance, I kinda think some of the commenters in the article regarding leaf and limb pickup are making some sense. I know it's a massive effort, but it's almost unfathomable to me that this has taken so ridiculously long. The ice storm which dragged these limbs down was three months ago. I don't know why private contractors weren't incorporated into this sooner (or, for that matter, given free reign to haul this stuff away at the same expense Athens-Clarke County has incurred in its current efforts).

- Continuing my unlikely agreements, Melvin Davis is right. The Oconee County Commission is nit-picking their budget in a desperate and absurd attempt to not dip into reserve funds ... despite the fact that they only be using one-tenth of said fund and this existing scenario is the exact reason why they set up the fund. And, from where I'm sitting, it seems the only reason they're nit-picking is because they want to be a thorn in Davis's side. Why in the world would you consider cutting a marginal amount of funding for the Keep Oconee Beautiful commission - particularly when you can quantify the positive results the commission has delivered despite its small funding amount - all in the name of not dipping into what is a very deep well of financial reserves? It's an insane type of logic that John Daniell is exercising.
