Couple of things

- It sounds like progress on both fronts would be a good thing. Arguably, the community doesn't need another high-rise condo for the time being and the expansion of The Classic Center would accommodate the requests that are currently being denied.

- And another good development. This has the potential to be a really unique project that attracts economic development and provides additional parking. It's a simple concept that marries the public and private sectors, and it should be a great example of how the community should move forward in many ventures.

- From Flagpole, the take on the budget in Athens-Clarke County, complete with excerpts from District Eight Commissioner Andy Herod's spot-on criticisms of the unfunded mandates choking out local government.

- Matt Pulver's second part analyzing the insanity that is Rep. Paul Broun is as entertaining as the first.

- In a weird way that's difficult for me to rationalize, I kinda like Sen. Johnny Isakson's idea. Sure, it is gimmicky, but, on some level, if taxpayers are footing the bill and owning 70 percent of GM - particularly as we shepherd it through the difficult waters - then why shouldn't we get some stock in the end and, potentially, make a little money off the deal? Granted, there are obvious flaws with the proposal, but I think it's only slightly less crazy than others do.
