Couple of things

- Abso-friggin'-lutely. While corporate sponsorships are arguably not the way to go for everything, it is a time-tested method that can provide complimentary support funds for various programs and services. Just look at the University of Georgia, which often finds donors and sponsors who provide funds to expand existing programs or launch new ones. When I worked at the Georgia Museum of Art, there are various programs and exhibitions that we offered that simply couldn't have been done had it not been for the generosity of the private donors.

- I think this makes a lot of sense, in this particular case of course. While I don't necessarily want business leaders calling the shots at, say, Fourth Street Elementary School in Athens-Clarke County or Malcom Bridge Middle School in Oconee County, giving them a seat at the table for a career academy is kind of a no-brainer.

- 'Burning bridges' might be too kind of a description for what Bill Hamby hath wrought.

- Just how much additional water has Athens-Clarke County received? Why, just check out this handy chart.

- Speaking of the drought ... I really like Rep. DuBose Porter, but I just don't see the upside in this.
