Stegall's in, speaking to Athens Democrats

Glenn Stegall, a student of the University of Georgia, is in for the Athens-Clarke County mayoral race and out as president of UGA's Young Democrats.

Via The Red & Black, Stegall was removed from his seat as president of the Young Democrats in August after he refused to abandon his campaign for mayor.

Earlier this week, Stegall was tabbed, at the request of the University of Georgia political science professor Paul Gurian, as a replacement speaker for the Oct. 10 breakfast meeting of the Athens Area Democratic Party. The email invitation, however, doesn't list Stegall as a candidate for mayor and only refers to his position as former president of the Young Democrats.

Stegall is slated to speak about various educational initiatives being put forward by the Obama administration.
